Celebrations of Buddhas birthday in Seoul

Für die Feierlichkeiten von Buddhas Geburtstag (2. Mai 2009) werden Tempel mit bunten Lampions dekoriert. Aus den Laternen hängen Papierstreifen mit Wünschen. Fast jeder Besucher kauft sich einen Wunschzettel, der dann mit Namen und Wunsch beschriftet an einem Lampion befestigt werden.

In Korea the birthday of Buddha (2nd of May 2009) is celebrated according to the Lunisolar calendar. This day is called "Seokga tansinil", meaning "the day of Buddha's birthday". Lotus lanterns cover the entire temples throughout the month. Visitors can buy a paper, write a wish to that paper and fix it with their name to a lantern.
