Ostrovany

Ivan Kaleja (26) and his wife Klara (22) with their new born child coming home from a walk back to the settlement where they life in. The village of Ostrovany, located about 50 km from Kosice in the Sabinov district, shows the difficulties experienced by the minority and majority population living together in one village. A wall was erected in 2009 to divide private properties from the neighbouring Roma settlement. In the settlement are living 304 children aged between 0-6 years, compared to the village, with 37 inhabitants in this age group. (2013)
