Lunik IX in Kosice, Slovakia

A view through the window of a flat, on which somebody has drawn a tree and a little house, in Lunik IX a decrepit housing estate almost entirely populated by Roma. The concrete building was in appalling condition and most of its inhabitants had already moved out, just a few families were still living there because they did not know where else to go. Beside Lunik IX grows a new shanty village with those families. The building "Hrebenova 34-36" was demolished in August 2014 by the city of Kosice. Lunik IX has officially 6542 registered (12/2015) inhabitants and almost all of them are of Roma ethnicity.
