Charles Bridge

An einem Montag dem 9. Juli 1357 vor genau 650 Jahren wurde der Grundstein zur Karlsbruecke in Prag gelegt. Die Karlsbruecke ist eine der aeltesten erhaltenen Steinbruecken Europas und bildet zudem eine Freilichtgalerie barocker Skulpturen (zum Teil Kopien, Originale im Lapidarium des Nationalmuseums).

On a Monday 9th of July 1357 exactly 650 years ago was laying of the foundation stone for the Prague Charles Bridge. The Charles Bridge is one of the oldest and certainly one of the most beautiful stonebridges in Europe, this ancient artery across the Vltava river links Prague's Lesser Town with the Old Town on the right bank and was vital to the development of the Czech capital.
