Rankovce: “From Shack into a 3E House”

Youngsters getting a portrait on the main road of the village in Rankovce. The foundation ETP Slovakia is working in Rankovce and setting up micro-loan funds for the local Roma community. Self-construction helps to demolish stereotyped views about people from socially excluded communities, whom the majority population regards as abusers of social benefits, socially dependent, incapable, passive and constantly reliant upon state assistance. The approach gives people the opportunity to take care of themselves.
